Food Glorious Food

How many of you feel as exasperated as me when it comes to all of the recommendations that involve food? One minute the nutritionists are saying that we should eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day, the next they are trying to increase this number to 8.

The fact is that there is far too much health advice in the public domain when it comes to the consumption of food. Moreover, much of this is often unworkable in the everyday lives of the citizens to whom the advice is directed.

Personally, I have come to a conclusion whereby I am pretty sure I know enough about the basics of nutrition to work out things for myself from now on. The government health experts are wasting their breath on me now. If I want to consume an unhealthy product from a company such as sugar craft I will, but always knowing that I will do so only as an occasional treat.

The simple fact of the matter here is that you should already know that you need a good mix of all the macronutrients in your diet. These are protein, fats and carbohydrates and you should ensure that each of your three meals per day is balanced and good for you.

You should also allow one treat per day - and no more. Otherwise, you do run the risk of putting on more weight. You will also need to ensure that you consume the level of calories that are needed to power your lifestyle. If you have a very active job - eat accordingly. However, if you sit in an office all day - watch what you are eating.
